The NEW Random-Length 'Short-Wide' Modular Lumber Loads are now available, and will start shipping in earky October 2023. This page will be updated soon with additional information.
The new tooling is done and we're in the final steps of writing the instructions for the new kits. Our pilot models have more than lived up to the expectation. We're also working on more articles and clinics on how to do loads that look like these on our new 'OwlMtModels News' blog, where we'll keep everyone update with more frequent updates. We're also considering an updated "How to" video on building the lumber loads for various cars and bracing versions including iron-wire (fishing line) and high-tension steel-bands (Chart tape) to increase the options for your loads! - Now, on with the new lumber loads!
3002 17ft Short-Wide Lumber Load Kit - 36-50ft 'Wide' Flatcars.
Kit is authentic for 1870-1960 Eras. For more information about shipment of lumber by rail, see Historical Information.

3003 17ft Short-Wide Lumber Load kit - for 53ft-6in Flatcars
Kit is authentic for 1937-1960 Eras. For more information about shipment of lumber by rail, see Historical Information.

For those modelers wanting to be able to add-on to the 3002 or 3003 kit with an additional sprue of six lumber Panels, the 3013 Add-On Sprue is available.
3013 17ft Short-Wide Lumber - one sprue, 6-panels
3004 17ft Narrow Lumber Load Kit - 36-50ft 'Narrow' Flatcars and Gondolas.
OMM 3004 kit shown here on SP 43745, an OwlMtModels F-50-Series Flatcar (OMM #2002 and 2003).
The 3004 kit can also fit in almost every HO scale gondola, seen here in a Red Caboose SP G-50-23 composite gondola. Note that Athearn 50ft and MDC 40ft gondolas are much narrower than most other models, so 'dummy' stakes will have to be used starting at the top of the car-side, and 'faked' below the carside when used with those models. Special notched stakes are included in the kit to provide some adjustment for the width of the decks of the flatcars or slightly narrower gondolas than will fit full stakes.

3005 17ft Narrow Lumber Load kit - for 52ft-6in Gondolas
The 3005 3-stack kit shown in a Walthers/P2K 52'6" Gondola is a larger version of the 3004 kit to fit 52ft gondolas. In the photo above it is shown in the 'maximum' configuration (3-3-3) to the limits of AAR Plate-C clearance diagram, which was the limiting factor for shipments on the east coast through the tight clearance tunnels.
Here the 3005 kit is reduced to a "2-3" stack arrangement, with taller 'units' only two high, in a Tangent Scale Models PRR G31B ACF-built 52'6" Gondola.
